Arts Radio Network was founded in 2009 by Caroline Breder-Watts and John C. Watts (2Watts Productions) to profile Palm Beach County’s arts community. The website grew out of Caroline and John’s long involvement in public broadcasting, and a desire to promote the local community through audio, utilizing the NPR model of radio storytelling. ARN was the first-ever recipient of the Creative Endeavor grant from the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County, and has in subsequent years extended its scope throughout South Florida. Many of ARN’s interviews can also be heard on 91.3 WLRN, South Florida’s public radio station, on Sunday mornings at 8:34 a.m. as part of Sunday Breakfast with the Arts, hosted by Caroline Breder-Watts.
Caroline and John have also developed two others facets of 2Watts Productions – radio theater and film programming. The Arts Radio Network Theatre Project is currently in residence at Arts Garage in Delray Beach, with other productions scheduled for next season at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, the City of Sunrise Theatre, and simulcast from the Tropic Cinema in Key West on 91.3 WLRN. Caroline has also developed and curated film programming for South Florida venues for the past decade. Please visit the corresponding pages on this website for more information.
Caroline Breder-Watts (Executive Director) has enjoyed a diverse career in the South Florida arts community for the past 25 years, with projects in radio, theater and film. While serving as Director of Communications for the late, great Florida Stage, she started a concurrent career in public broadcasting in 1992 at WXEL-FM in Boynton Beach, and spent the next 19 years in a variety of capacities, including pledge producer and host of two programs on the arts, South Florida Artsview and Listening to Movies. She has also worked as host and producer for Classical South Florida and WLRN-FM in Miami. She now serves as Pledge Producer for that station, and also hosts, writes and produces Sunday Breakfast with the Arts. Caroline co-founded www.artsradionetwork.com with her husband, fellow radio producer John Watts.
Caroline’s lifelong passion for film has manifested itself in developing film programs for a variety of organizations including Delray Beach Center for the Arts, Norton Museum of Art, Palm Beach State College, Toward a More Perfect Union, the Mental Health Association of Palm Beach County and Creative City Collaborative.
John Watts (Producer/Artistic Director) has spent the past 25 years as a producer for both audio and video productions. His early career highlights were in sports, with positions at ESPN, the Golf Channel and NBC, where he was part of the crew that covered the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain. He has specialized in radio production for the past decade, and served as Executive Producer of South Florida Artsview, broadcast on WXEL-FM and Classical South Florida. John has produced several highly successful radio dramas series on the stage, including a recreation of The Mercury Theatre’s infamous War of the Worlds broadcast at the Delray Beach Playhouse, and a series of plays at the Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, all of which were simulcast live on WXEL-FM. He now spearheads the Arts Radio Network Theatre Project. John and his wife, Caroline Breder-Watts, are the founders of 2Watts Productions.
